Literature Text

I carried the last box of my things down the stairs early on Monday morning, and past my parents who were sat watching me. They weren’t likely to help considering they were the reason I was moving out in the first place. They told me to find myself somewhere to live ever since I swore at my dad after a bad day of work.
I looked over at them and nodded as I walked out the door to the taxi. I placed my last box in the back and sat in the front whilst we pulled away.
I had brought a flat in London, way over 100 miles away from my parents, that way when they decided they wanted to call me and say how much they missed me then I had several hours to either tidy up or get the hell out the apartment. I had enough money, since I was 20 now and id been working since 17, and my parents never used to make me pay board or anything. The apartment was nice. 2 bedrooms and only 2 other tenants in the flat above me.
It was a long taxi journey, but when I got there my things were already there with the removal van. They had been taking my things up to the flat and everything was almost ready.
I took a few boxes up and after a little while I was staring at the bright room and all the boxes surrounding me. It was only 10am, so I decided that id unpack, making sure to get the bedroom done first, so that if I gave up halfway through then at least my room was done for me to sleep in.
4pm, I decided to take a break. Everything was nearly done anyway.
I looked out the window. Rain. Brilliant. But I needed food.
I grabbed my hoodie, a fiver off the side and ran to the nearest shop, grabbing a few things. I paid quickly, pulled my hood up and ran back again. I got through the door and pulled my hood down, wiping my soaked hair off my face and put my hand in my pocket for my… great. No keys. I slid down the wall next to my flat and pulled out my phone looking online for a blacksmith.
2 hour wait, and they’d call me when they were 5 minutes away. Even more great. At least I had some snacks and my phone for company.
I’d been sitting around for about half hour when I heard the front door. I looked up to see two tall guys looking back at me. One was about 6 foot with black hair and the other was just a few inches taller with brown hair. They both looked familiar, but that was crazy, I hadn’t even visited London before.
“Hi” the tallest said “I’m Dan, this is Phil, and you are?”
“Faith” I replied.
“So are you waiting for someone?” Phil asked
“No, I moved in about 7 hours ago”
“Then shouldn’t you be in the flat?” Dan asked, smirking
“I would be if I hadn’t locked myself out. The locksmith should be here in about an hour and a half” I looked down at the floor. I’m sure a girl sat outside their flat looking like a drowned rat wasn’t what they were expecting to walk in on.
“Well, do you want to come up to ours for a cup of tea or something? You look freezing” Phil asked.
“Just so long as you aren’t some creepy fan girl” Dan laughed.
“Fan girl?” I replied
“Just ignore him” Phil said, rolling his eyes and walking towards me, holding his hand out for me to pull myself up on. “Me and Dan do a radio show and YouTube videos”
“ohh… you’re amazingphil? And Danisnotonfire?” I replied. I knew they looked familiar.
“Yeah that’s right” Dan said, smiling and walking upstairs. I followed behind them. My old friend had showed me some of their videos in the past and I loved them. But I didn’t watch many; I wasn’t really big on YouTube.
I walked into the flat and Dan took my jacket for the dryer, whilst Phil went to make a cup of tea. Dan came back and showed me around the flat and then we all settled in the living room.
“So, you from around London before?” Dan asked as I sipped my tea.
“No. I’m from Birmingham” I replied
“What made you come out to London then?”
“My parents kicked me out for swearing at my dad after a bad day at work” I said. They both laughed
“Is that really the only reason?” Phil asked
“Yeah, well, so they say. I’m guessing they just needed my room to dump more of their useless shit in” Just then my phone started ringing,
“Hello?”
“Hi. Is this Faith?”
“Yes”
“It’s the locksmith, I’m 2 minutes away”
“Great. Thanks” I replied, hanging up.
“Locksmith?” Dan asked
“Yeah. I better get back to my flat. Thanks for letting me hang out here for a bit” I said
“No problem” Phil replied, standing me up and walking me to their door. “We should do this more often”
“Sure! Come down whenever” I said,
“you got the money for the locksmith?” Dan asked. Oh crap! I hadn’t been to the cashpoint.
“Oh crap. Could my day get any worse?” I checked my pocket for my card. In the flat.
“I’ll come with you, I have a bit of money in my pocket” He said, he slipped past Phil and walked down the stairs with me, waiting outside my flat for the locksmith. Like he said, 2 minutes later a man with a case of tools walked into the lobby and towards me.
“Hi so what seems to be the problem”
“well, my door is one of those that just click shut and you need a key to open them. It’s not locked, it’s just shut”
“No problem” He said. He reached into his case and pulled out what looked like a metal credit card, and within seconds the door was open. I walked in for my wallet and grabbed the £30 pounds out of it, but as I walked out I saw Dan handing him some notes, and the locksmith left.
“how much was it?” I asked,
“it was only £90” He replied
“Only??” I exclaimed. “Here, take this” I handed him the £30 but he pushed my hand away.
“Don’t worry about it” He said, “Just class it as a moving in gift.” He looked past me at the boxes in my lounge. “Talking about moving in, would you like some help with the rest of your unpacking?”
“You don’t need to worry about it” I said “Honestly, you just paid for the door”
“Sure? There’s still a lot of boxes”
I looked around at the lounge. He’s right, there is. I didn’t realise
“How about tomorrow? My bedrooms done so I can get some sleep after I’ve eaten.”
“Sounds like a plan” He pulled out a scrap of paper from his pocket and scribbled something down on it before passing it to me. “There’s my number. Just text me whenever. I’m free all day”
I smiled at it and pocketed it.
“Thanks” I said, “well night”
“night” he replied, as I walked into my flat. I wandered into my bedroom, changing into some shorts and a strappy top and climbing into bed to watch TV whilst eating some sweets.
I leaned over and grabbed my jeans, pulling out my phone and the scrap of paper with Dan's number on.

Hi Dan, its faith. Thanks again for today, I’ll make it up to you at some point :) x

Did that sound wrong? Dammit id already sent it. Just hope he didn’t take it wrong.

Hi faith. Honestly it’s no problem. It’s just a little something to help :) x

Really? A little something?! It was £90 Dan! X

So? How’s about you come out with me tomorrow, buy me breakfast and we’ll call it even? X

Seriously? Just breakfast? x

Yes! Now stop complaining and get some sleep! I’ll see you at 9am for some breakfast :) x

I smiled to myself, it was 9pm and it had been a long day. I closed my eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.
Those of you that have read my other stories will already be familiar with the character Faith (I should really create a design for her)
She's like my OC that i use in all of my stories. (Except for Indie obviously!)
Well i had writers block with the Indie/Nerd story so i decided to attempt to write a fanfiction (god help you all) to try and get back into the writing mood.
So what better than to write a dan howell one? since ive been fan-girling for a while XD

Phil fans dont worry, he does play a part in the story lol
